Glenbrae Finest British Knitwear

Colour of the Month – Navy

June’s colour of the month is a great choice for Father’s Day, which this year falls on June 18th and a Glenbrae jumper would make the perfect gift.

Father’s Day has been marked throughout Europe since the middle ages celebrating fatherhood and paternal bonds. Originally held in March we have now fallen in line with the American tradition, which dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, of marking a date in June to say thank you to fathers all over the country.

Unsurprisingly the colour navy go dark blue fabric that has been worn by sailors in the British Navy since the middle of the 18th century. The Oxford English Dictionary first included the colour in its 1813 edition, so this rich shade is steeped in history.

Navy is a colour that can be worn by all ages and on any occasion from the golf course to the clubhouse, from the office to a meal out.  It is classic and yet so smart – no wonder, given its rich heritage.

Glenbrae’s men’s garments are made using seamless technology to give the perfect and most consistent fit.  Made using our own yarn, a Glenbrae garment doesn’t lose its shape and will continue to fit wash after wash. It will soon be your father’s favourite jumper.

We have spent a long time in our dyeing lab to be able to offer you just the right shade of Navy, a good depth of blue but not too dark. So why not treat someone to this historic shade in June?
